Armed Forces Day - Saluting our Military Medical Heroes

This Armed Forces Day, Omnimed would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Armed Forces personnel who bravely serve our country.

Omnimed is pleased to support Armed Forces Day, held on Saturday 24th June. Armed Forces Day is a chance for us to show our support for the men and women in our Armed Forces community; from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets. Support for the loved ones of our Armed Forces personnel is especially important as our Service men and women couldn’t do their job without the incredible support of their family and friends.

Armed Forces Day celebrations begin on Monday 19 June when the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the country.

Omnimed particularly recognises and thanks our armed forces for the role they play in supporting the health of our nation through supporting our NHS at home and providing much needed services to British nationals and others abroad.

Operation Rescript was the name of the military response to COVID-19 in the UK and British military efforts in response to COVID-19 overseas fell under Operation Broadshare. The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has confirmed that Operation Rescript was the biggest ever homeland military operation in peacetime.

Our regular and reservist Armed Forces personnel were an invaluable source of support during the COVID-19 pandemic, rapidly providing assistance to a range of much-needed services including:

  • Over 5k personnel in COVID-19 testing efforts across the UK to help identify and break chains of transmission between April and August 2020
  • Rollout of the COVID-19 mass vaccination programme
  • Small scale repatriation of British citizens
  • Setting up Nightingale hospitals
  • Delivering PPE to frontline medical staff
  • Helicopter crews on standby to support the NHS
  • Delivery of vaccines and equipment, as well as logistical support.
  • Nearly 400 Armed Forces personnel from the COVID Support Force mobilised to support ambulance services
  • Over 100 personnel trained to drive oxygen tankers in support of the NHS

WOW! Well done to our Armed Forces!

Showing support for the Armed Forces provides a much valued morale boost for the troops and their families. Omnimed is proud to have a Service family member, Kelly Peart as part of our team. Kelly’s husband is a soldier in the British Army, having served our country for over 23 years. Thank you Mr Peart

This year’s Armed Forces Day National Event will be hosted by Cornwall Council in Falmouth. The National Event promises to be an action-packed day featuring the very best of the Armed Forces. Can’t make it to Cornwall? Then look out for one of the many local events across the UK and do pop along to show your support.

Happy Armed Forces Day!
